KEITH BURRELL Keith was raised in the north east and having travelled
extensively now lives in Newcastle upon Tyne. He taught himself to paint in the
mid '90s believing that "trial and error" rather than tuition was
the key to producing a more original style of work. His first collection, a series of miniature watercolours featuring
the castles and landmarks of Northumberland, proved an overwhelming success
selling worldwide to people familiar with the region. An extended stay in South Africa provided the inspiration for
his semi-abstract studies of African wildlife and following their publication
he was commissioned to reproduce the artwork for "Cape Promise", a
brand of South African wine launched by Newcastle and Scottish vintners
Waverley in 2002. In addition to his latest collection of contemporary artwork Keith continues to specialise in portraiture. |
